CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - American Airlines is adding direct flights from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to the Super Bowl.

The airline will operate two daily flights for two days to accommodate travelers for the year’s biggest sporting event, which kicks off Sunday, Feb. 8.

What to know

In February, several flights will depart from Charlotte to San Jose Mineta International Airport, conveniently located just minutes from Levi’s Stadium.

There will be four flights to San Jose on Thursday, Feb. 5, and Friday, Feb. 6. Two return flights to Charlotte are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 9.

“The season is just getting started, and American is locking in our game plan to get fans to the Big Game,” said Jason Reisinger, American’s managing director of global network planning.
