The town of Tura witnessed a grand yet disciplined conclusion to this year’s Durga Puja festivities as all 31 Durga Puja Committees (DPCs) came together for the Visarjan (idol immersion) ceremony, which began at 1 PM from the Tura parade ground.

Decked in traditional attire, men and women from across the town joined the colorful procession, as idols of Goddess Durga were carefully placed onto trucks to be transported to the immersion ghat in Babupara.

What set this year’s procession apart was the strict adherence to a Silent Zone directive issued by the West Garo Hills District Administration, covering the stretch from the Maternity Hospital to the Brahminpara area.
