PROVIDENCE — There are few firsts remaining in a rivalry that dates back to 1909, but Friday night will bring one for the football teams from Brown and the University of Rhode Island.

Centreville Bank Stadium will play host to the Bears and Rams after opening its doors in May. The battle for the Governor’s Cup will leave the East Side and Kingston in favor of Pawtucket and the banks of the Seekonk River.

Wednesday afternoon brought the annual press conference to the State House, with Gov. Dan McKee welcoming both head coaches and select players to a sitting room above the rotunda. Brown will be looking to snap a six-game losing streak while No. 8 URI is hoping to both maintain dominance over an in-state foe and remain on track for a second straight FCS playoff berth.
