Borussia Monchengladbach have opened talks with Lutz Pfannenstiel to appoint him as their new sporting director. ‌

Pfannenstiel had previously held talks with Aberdeen and declared his interest in their vacant director of football position. ‌

The German has now been offered the chance to return to the Bundesliga. The 52-year-old, who has just recently left St Louis City, is currently in talks with Monchengladbach chiefs. ‌

The Bundesliga’s bottom side are in the market after Roland Virus resigned as their sporting director earlier this week, after their poor start to the season.

German sources admit that it is likely that Pfannenstiel will take the job. He has previously worked at Hoffenheim and Fortuna Dusseldorf.
