Police have declared this morning's attack on a synagogue in north Manchester a terrorist incident.

Two people were killed and the suspect shot dead after a car was driven at members of the public and a stabbing happened outside Heaton Park synagogue, on Middleton Road in Crumpsall, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. The suspect did not gain access to the building.

He was shot at the scene by armed police at around at 9.30am. Five people, including a security guard, were injured. Three others remain in a serious condition.
