GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, MI – The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Safety, Security and Survival briefing for faith-based organizations after the shooting and fire at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township.

The sheriff’s office and Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel will hold the tactical briefing at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, according to Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson.

The briefing will provide faith-based organizations with tools and strategies to recognize threats, react quickly and save lives in critical situations.

Swanson said his office has been receiving several requests from other faith-based organizations for training in this area after the church shooting on Sept. 28.

The training is available to any faith-based organization
