LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Newly filed court records show former Scott County Sheriff Kenneth Hughbanks intends to plead guilty to tax evasion.

Hughbanks was arrested in April by Indiana State Police. Special Prosecutor Ric Hertel charged Hughbanks with filing false tax returns for three years, for failing to report income from selling property, and paying money to himself from a relative’s bank account who has dementia.

A date for Hughbanks’ sentencing has not been set. He faces a possible prison term of up to two and a half years.

Hughbanks’ tax records came under scrutiny as part of the sweeping investigation into corrupt ex-Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel.

Hughbanks worked for Noel at the Clark County Sheriff’s Office before taking the Scott County position.
