PHOENIX — A Florida resident is facing criminal charges in Arizona for allegedly defrauding the state's school voucher program.

The Arizona Attorney General's Office announced Thursday that a grand jury had charged Adam Jones with theft and fraud for allegedly taking advantage of the state's Empowerment Scholarship Account system.

Arizona's ESA program was widely expanded a few years ago to allow families to utilize public funds on private education. 12News has previously reported on how ESA funds have reportedly been used to purchase diamond rings and lingerie.
