"During a lapse in appropriations, impacts are realized throughout our entire fulltime force. However, furloughs mostly impact our civilian federal workforce," a statement from the Iowa National Guard reads. "The Iowa National Guard has approximately 1,000 full-time civilian federal employees, and around 2/3rds of these employees will be furloughed. It’s important to note that U.S. Code stipulates all employees will receive back pay once an appropriation is passed."
The guard will be paid for work done before the shutdown but will not receive payment
