[IOWA] — Members of the Iowa National Guard will not receive pay as long as the government remains shut down. This includes those who are currently deployed.
In August, around 1,800 Guard members joined a year-long U.S. military operation in the Middle East. While on duty, these soldiers are considered essential and cannot be furloughed.
The soldiers will receive payment this week for work already completed. Further payments will resume once the government reopens.
