GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) - The Greenville County Coroner's Office is teaming up with Upstate Warrior Solution to combat veteran suicide in the Upstate.

Upstate Warrior Solution (UWS) is a local non-profit that helps veterans, first responders and their families with challenges involving jobs, housing, healthcare, mental health services and more.

UWS President Charlie Hall said they have been working to fight veteran suicide for nearly 15 years. However, most public health data is almost two years old, and that delay makes it hard to track, much less prevent, suicides among veterans.

“It might look like the veteran suicide rate is improving, but that rate is really only based on who the VA knows takes their life," Hall explained.
