DETROIT – Simon Edvinsson has surprised even himself by his quick recovery from a lower-body injury that required surgery two weeks ago.

The Detroit Red Wings defenseman will make his preseason debut tonight in Toronto (7 p.m., livestreamed on DetroitRedWings.com).

“We were a little bit worried there, but I got good help from all the training staff and everybody, so it went good,” Edvinsson said.

“It’s going to be a little bit rusty at the start, but hopefully not that much and just going to go from there and take steps every shift.”

Edvinsson was injured during offseason training and missed all of training camp in Traverse City. He was back on the ice last week.
