CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Carbondale on Thursday.

The Carbondale Police Department said the crash happened at the intersection of East Pleasant Hill Road and South Wall Streetat 1:56 a.m. on October 2.

Police said they found the vehicle failed to stop at the intersection, then traveled off the roadway, hit a tree and then caught fire.

Daryl Norwood, 38 of Carbondale, was identified as the driver and was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash, police said in a report.

There were no passengers in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
