SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - In 2005, people gathered together to sleep outside at the park, raising money for the homeless community in Siouxland. Twenty-one years later, people are still gathering at the park during the Siouxland Sleep Out to help raise money.

The Siouxland Sleep Out is expected to take place this year on Friday, Nov. 7, at Cone Park in Sioux City. Gates are expected to open at 3 p.m. and most activities will start at 5 p.m.

Activities planned for the Sleep Out event include a raffle, live music and a silent auction. Organizers say a Chopped in the Street Cooking Contest and a free chili line is also expected to take place during the event.

Organizers say pre-registration is encouraged online but not required.
