SALEM, Ore. - The Oregon DMV has halted the issuance of non-domiciled Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs) and Commercial Learner's Permits due to a new federal rule, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
ODOT officials said that the interim rule that took effect on September 29 requires states to ensure compliance with updated regulations before issuing these credentials. The pause affects around 1,400 limited-term credential holders in Oregon. These credentials, issued to temporary U.S. residents, include original, transfer, upgrade, renewal, replacement, amendment, correction, reprint, or reissuance of previously issued licenses.
