SALEM, Ore. - The Oregon Department of Education has released new test scores showing both progress and challenges for K-12 students in the state. ODE officials said that improvements were seen in math, English language arts, and science, but overall scores remain below pre-pandemic levels.
Gov. Tina Kotek emphasized the importance of continued support for students.
"Today’s results are a sobering reminder that we must stay the course to make sure every student...has the support to succeed," Kotek said.
Participation rates in these assessments have increased, particularly in high schools, yet Oregon still falls short of the federal participation requirement of 95 percent. The largest school districts, Portland and Salem-Keizer, reported higher scores in math and English language arts co
