PHOENIX — The suspect in a random attack on a Mesa mother and her two daughters has been indicted for multiple felony charges by a Maricopa County grand jury.

Lowell Dorn, 23, has been formally charged with attempted first-degree murder, burglary and aggravated assault after he allegedly entered a family's apartment on Sept. 17 and attacked them with a knife.

Jackie Horne, the mother, previously told 12News she woke up to a loud noise at about 4 a.m. and found an intruder attacking her 16-year-old daughter. Jackie and her other daughter jumped in to intervene.

“All I could see was just this tall shadow on top of her. I couldn’t see his head, just his back, so I get the hammer and I just charge at him, and I hit him as hard as I can on his back. I think I hit him at least twice," Jack
