WOODBURY, Iowa (KWQC) - The former superintendent of the Des Moines School District is in the custody of the U.S. Department of Justice on a warrant for his arrest.

Woodbury County Jail officials said on Thursday that Ian Roberts is no longer in their custody.

On Friday immigration authorities arrested Roberts, who they have said is living and working in the U.S. illegally, leading to questions of how he got hired.

The Associated Press also found out that he didn’t earn a doctorate that he claimed to have on his application.

His arrest Friday shocked the Des Moines community and the country.

Roberts’ license was revoked by the Iowa Board of Education Examiners Sunday.
