FRANKFORT, Ky. (WSIL) -- Gov. Andy Beshear announced $7.75 million in funding for local bridge projects across Kentucky. The funding will support 17 bridge projects in 13 counties and three cities.

The County and City Bridge Improvement Program is designed to improve safety and extend the lifespan of bridges. Since 2025, the program has awarded $32.6 million to address closed bridges and those needing repairs.

“Kentucky’s bridges don’t just connect roads, they connect our families to their jobs, schools and communities,” said Gov. Beshear.

The awarded projects include 12 bridge replacements and five repairs or preservations. All bridges are currently closed or have weight restrictions. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) engineers reviewed each project to ensure effectiveness.
