A police officer in Millis, Massachusetts, was arrested on domestic violence charges this week and placed on unpaid administrative leave during the investigation, the department said.

Officer Craig Thompson was arrested by Medway police on charges of domestic assault and battery and strangulation of a family member, according to Millis police and a criminal complaint.

Thompson had a plea of not guilty entered at his arraignment on Wednesday, according to court records. He was released on condition of staying away and having no contact with the victim and that he not possess any personal firearms.
