DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol Bureau ) -- Ian Roberts -- the former Des Moines Public Schools superintendent facing numerous allegations about living in the country without legal authority, providing false information on employment documents, and lying about his academic credentials -- now faces a federal weapons charge.
Federal authorities moved Roberts from the Woodbury County Jail to a federal facility in Council Bluffs.
On Thursday, Roberts had his initial court appearance remotely with the U.S. Federal District Court in Des Moines on the new federal gun charge.
Authorities say that Roberts had a loaded gun in the school district vehicle he had been driving when they apprehended him on Friday.
