More than 250 volunteers collected 10,720 pounds of trash and debris from along the Reedy River Sept. 20 during the Friends of the Reedy River Fall Sweep cleanup day, the nonprofit announced Oct. 1.

Among the more than five tons of trash were 80 tires pulled from the river and surrounding green spaces. Volunteers worked at five sites along downtown Greenville’s iconic river, and their efforts were made possible by financial and in-kind contributions from sponsors Seamon Whiteside and Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville.

FoRR also extended thanks to Openfields, Dapper Ink Printers and Southernside Brewery Co. for additional support.
