JAMMU, Oct 2: Dussehra, the festival symbolising the victory of good over evil, was celebrated with great religious fervour and enthusiasm across the Jammu region on Thursday, with the main event taking place at the iconic Parade Ground in the heart of Jammu city.

Thousands of people gathered at the venue to witness the traditional burning of effigies of the demon king Ravana, his brother Kumbhkaran, and son Meghnad, marking the triumph of Lord Ram over evil forces.

The celebrations began with the customary ‘Shastra Pujan’ (worship of weapons), after which costumed representations of Lord Ram, Lakshman, Maa Sita, and Lord Hanuman arrived at the Parade Ground in a colourful procession.
