The San Francisco 49ers announced they’ve promoted quarterback Adrian Martinez from the practice squad to the team’s active roster. Since it’s a promotion, Martinez is now on the 53-man roster until he’s waived. That might be another sign that this is not a temporary move, making Martinez the backup quarterback.

Edge rusher Trevis Gipson was elevated from the practice squad. He gets the not over William Bradley-King. Gipson has started 19 games, albeit back in 2021 and 2022, so that might have been part of the reason he was called up over Bradley-King. Gipson also has the height and weight advantage over Bradley-King.

The other options at wide receiver for the Niners were Russell Gage and Junior Bergen. Gage did not perform well earlier in the season. Turner likely takes the place of Eli
