The Bishop of Manchester has called for unity in Manchester in the aftermath of a horrendous attack on a north Manchester synagogue - urging the community to see it as 'an attack on all of us'.

Police descended on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue on Middleton Road, Crumpsall, at 9.31am this morning (October 2) following reports that a vehicle was being driven at members of the public.

The driver is then understood to have alighted the vehicle and attacked members of the public with a knife.

The suspect did not gain access to the building and was shot at the scene by armed police.
