COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A judge denied bond Thursday for a man accused of killing an 11-year-old boy in a Richland County hit-and-run.
James Hargrave was arrested after allegedly hitting Travis Kelley early Wednesday in the area of Bluff Road and Blackberry Road. The South Carolina Highway Patrol said Hargrave left the scene after the crash, but was later located and apprehended.
Hargrave said during his bond hearing Thursday that he had turned back around once he realized he had hit something, but SCHP says he didn’t return to the scene until hours after the wreck.
WIS has since requested multiple records from SCHP and the South Carolina Department of Public Safety regarding the incident.
