October comes smashing in with a full slate of festivals and fun just waiting to be sampled. Now, if the temperatures would just take the hint...

Fall all over yourself heading out to the lakefront for the annual FRIED CHICKEN FESTIVAL Saturday and Sunday where more than 40 restaurants will be serving the quintessential southern dish and lots more, from meat pies to shrimp, quesadillas to catfish and loads in between. Entertainment is tasty as well, with Choppa, Lloyd, Vinyl Ranch featuring Disko Cowboy, Jelly Joseph Tonya Boyd-Cannon and Tucka, to name just a few. The fest runs 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day at Lakeshore Drive and Franklin Avenue. Tickets start at $25. Take a bite of the bounty here.
