The City of Greater Sudbury is doing all it can to deal with the community’s homelessness, addictions and mental health challenges, Mayor Paul Lefebvre says.

And while the city will do more, Lefebvre said it needs more help from the provincial and federal governments.

“Residents and businesses deserve safe, welcoming streets and public spaces, and those struggling with homelessness, addiction, and mental illness deserve dignity, care, and support,” Lefebvre told a luncheon hosted by the Rotary Club of Sudbury Sunrisers on Thursday.

“Cities like ours are doing everything we can, and we must continue working hand-in-hand with the provincial and federal governments to build a system that supports the people who need it most.”
