Greater Sudbury Police are continuing to address issues of safety and drug use in the downtown core, the service said on Thursday.

This has included a heightened presence of officers in the area and strategies to ensure all citizens feel welcome and secure in public spaces.

“The community’s concerns about safety downtown are real and should not be ignored,” the service said in a release.

GSPS said it began boosting police visibility in the hub several years ago, in response to issues raised by the public, and this remains an ongoing focus.
