CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Supporters of a proposed bond in Cedar Rapids Schools are pointing to the rejection of school buildings as voting sites as a reason the bond is needed.
Three Cedar Rapids Middle Schools will not be early voting centers in the Linn County city and school election because they don’t meet accessibility requirements.
Advocacy group Believe in Cedar Rapids Schools petitioned for Wilson, McKinley and Roosevelt middle schools to serve as a satellite voting location. Despite getting enough signatures, the Linn County Auditor’s Office determined the sites did not pass the federal Americans with Disabilities Act requirements .
Believe in CR Schools also petitioned for Kennedy High School, which passed its ADA inspection and will serve as a satellite voting site.
