DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board is weighing whether to push for new legislation on artificial intelligence in campaigns.

During Thursday’s meeting , members noted they have until early December to put forward any proposals for the upcoming legislative session. One idea discussed is a bill that would create a committee to review the use of AI in campaign security and finance.

Board members did not take any formal action, but agreed the issue is likely to grow as AI technology becomes more widely used in political messaging.
