PONCHATOULA, La. — A Ponchatoula High School student has been arrested after deputies say he brought a gun onto campus.
According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, 17-year-old Thomas Sharp was booked on Thursday on one count of Possession of a Firearm on School Property.
TPSO says they received a report that a gun was seen sitting on the front passenger seat of a student’s vehicle in the school’s parking lot. School administrators and the assigned School Resource Officer confirmed Sharp as the driver of the vehicle, and he was placed under arrest.
"At no time were any students in danger and the school was not placed on lockdown," the sheriff's office said in a release.
