A 17-year-old student at Ponchatoula High School was booked on a count of having a gun on school property Thursday, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office said it received a report of a gun that was seen sitting on the front passenger seat of a vehicle in the school's parking lot. Administrators and the school's resource officer determined who the driver of the vehicle was in placed him under arrest.

The Sheriff's Office said school was not put on lockdown and no students were in danger.
