SALIDA, Colo. (KKTV) - A woman was arrested on Thursday for animal cruelty after several puppies were found sick or dead on her property, according to the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

The sheriff’s office said on August 27, deputies responded to a home west of Salida after receiving an anonymous tip about possible animal cruelty.

Upon arrival, deputies said three puppies and two chickens were found dead at the home. CCSO said two other puppies and an adult dog were also found alive on the property.

CCSO said the deputy on scene assumed that none of the dogs had access to food or water, and the three remaining dogs were removed from the property due to the poor living conditions.
