JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. —

At 103 years old, Andres Vergara says the key to a long life is simple: "Stay busy, never stop."

Vergara has spent a lifetime doing just that.

Over the course of more than three decades in the U.S. Army, he served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

Along the way, he earned numerous military honors, including an Army commendation, three Bronze Stars, and, in 1953, the South Korean Government Medal of Honor after rescuing 100 children and a nun from a burning building.

Vergara ultimately retired as an Army Airborne Jumpmaster, with more than 800 parachute jumps to his name.

Recently, the veteran and his wife, Stephena, purchased a new bathtub that Andres found difficult to use.
