The San Francisco 49ers have promoted quarterback Adrian Martinez from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Thursday night’s road game against the Los Angeles Rams.
The 49ers (3-1) already had ruled out quarterback Brock Purdy (turf toe), making Mac Jones the starter against the Rams (3-1). Jones started in Weeks 2 and 3 when Purdy was sidelined. Jones injured a knee during Week 3 but is now healthy and was a full practice participant all week.
Receivers Jauan Jennings (ankle/rib), Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Jordan Watkins (calf) and defensive end Robert Beal Jr. (ankle) also were declared out after not practicing this week.
Martinez, 25, has not appeared in an NFL regular-season game. The 49ers signed him to their practice squad on Aug. 28 after he was waived by the New York
