HORSESHOE BEACH, Fla. (WCJB) - So far this year, there have been fewer hurricanes threatening the United States than normal.

In 2024, 18 named storms developed, with Category 5 Hurricane Beryl forming in June, Hurricane Debby, and Hurricane Milton making direct impacts on Florida and causing major damage in North Carolina from Hurricane Helene.

Also, Hurricane Francine made landfall in Louisiana, and Hurricane Ernesto made landfall in Bermuda.

This year, the continental United States has not experienced any direct hurricane threats.

With September being the peak month of a typical hurricane season, the Atlantic remained active, but did not deliver significant threats.
