OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Marion County School Board members are talking about a plan to allow gun-sniffing dogs in elementary schools.
Board members hope to have a policy worked out by the end of the month. They talked about the plan during a workshop on Thursday.
The discussion continues on Friday with school district leaders. Officials hope to meet with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to discuss the policy at a later date.
“We are looking at refining those procedures tomorrow, to examine what could these searches look like at the elementary level, where our students would not be impacted,” interim Superintendent Danielle Brewer said.
