STATEWIDE -- This year Maine experienced one of the driest summers on record. While late rain in September did bring some much needed relief, experts warn that conditions could persist next summer if we don't see more rainfall this fall.

From June through August, Maine saw the sixth driest summer on record, impacting Maine farmers and elevating wildfire danger.

"When you look at the sunshine we've had and the wonderful weather, unfortunately that comes with risks of drought and certainly we're seeing that right now," said Peter Rogers, Director of the Maine Emergency Management Agency.
