TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) -- The Kansas Supreme Court has denied Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach’s request to review a ruling that reversed a district court order preventing Kansans from getting driver’s licenses with the gender markers that reflect their identity.

In 2023, Kobach filed a lawsuit against the Kansas Department of Revenue to block them from changing the driver's license markers of people who no longer identified as the gender they were assigned at birth. The ACLU of Kansas filed a motion to intervene in the case, which was granted.

Last year, a district court ruled in favor of Kobach. However, in June, the Kansas Court of Appeals overturned that ruling.
