CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Shirley Singleton has lived on Bader Avenue at West 47th for forty years. But a burned-out, abandoned home in her Old Brooklyn neighborhood has been a nightmare for the last six months.

“It’s ugly, it’s an eyesore, and the smell catches you as soon as you start to go up my drive,” Singleton said.

Since late March, when a police standoff led to a fire, it’s been more than an eyesore; it’s also been a safety concern.

“Early in the morning, in my backyard, and I don’t know who’s going to be back there,” recalled Singleton.

“We’ve had people come and take all the siding off of this side of the house. We’ve had rodents, we’ve had all kind of stuff. And the smell is horrible,” she remember.
