COLFAX, Calif. —
A juvenile was killed and three other people were seriously injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in Placer County, officials said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 12:10 p.m. on the westbound side of Interstate 80, close to Colfax.
Only one vehicle was involved, CHP said. While the exact cause of the crash is still unclear, officers are investigating speed and weather as factors. A photo from the scene shows a black vehicle on the shoulder of the highway.
The crash originally shut down all westbound lanes, but CHP said one lane has since reopened, allowing for traffic to move past where the crash happened.
The ages and genders of all people involved in the crash are not known.
