ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - It’s deer mating season, and that means an increase of deer collisions on roads here in Georgia.
From October through December, there are more insurance claims filed because of deer collisions.
Deer are most active from dusk to dawn, meaning the risk is higher when people are heading to or from work. Collisions can cost thousands to repair, so it’s important to check your insurance plan to make sure you’re covered.
“To have coverage for deer collisions, you have to have comprehensive coverage on your vehicle. It is not covered under your collision coverage. So comprehensive coverage can help as well as when it breaks windshields. And it is subject to the deductible that you have under your comprehensive,” said insurance agent Tim Thomas.
