BUXTON, N.C. — An eighth house has collapsed into the ocean in Buxton.
This house was located at 46221 Tower Circle Road. According to Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the house fell shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday.
It comes as two houses fell into the ocean on Wednesday, with five houses falling within the span of an hour on Tuesday as a result of strong surf from Hurricane Humberto and Hurricane Imelda, bringing dangerous waves to the southeast coast. All of the homes were unoccupied at the time of the collapses.
The recent collapse adds to an already large tally, marking 20th house to collapse along the Outer Banks over the past five years. The most recent previous collapse occurred just two weeks ago.
