CLEVELAND (AP/WJW) — The Detroit Tigers defeated the Cleveland Guardians 6-3 Thursday to advance to the American League Division Series. This meant of course that the Guards' improbable and beautiful 2025 season was all over.
Guards manager Stephen Vogt told reporters that he was so proud of his guys, but that everyone still has work to do.
"It's another year we came up short ... it's the same feeling, you want to win," he said.
He said he had so much fun with this team and that he loved them, specifically that he had "faith" and "respect" for the pitching staff.
"It stings when you're not the team that wins the last game of the year," he said. "Doesn't matter how far you make it. That's our goal, we show up every year to win a World Series. No excuses, nothing else, that's our goal. A
