Jefferson City officials have closed parts of the Madison Street parking garage after an inspection revealed severe deterioration, according to a news release from the city.
The inspection by Allstate Consultants revealed severe deterioration to decking, ramps and supporting columns, which the city said created safety concerns.
Starting Thursday, ramps going up and down have been closed, all staircases are blocked off, and upper and lower levels are closed and inaccessible.
The Capitol Avenue entrance remains open, and the alley entrance and exit on that level remains open, according to the news release.
The city said it made the changes quickly due to rapid deterioration and overhead fall hazards.
