The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department announced Thursday that demolition is underway on the northernmost tennis and pickleball complex at Albert-Oakland Park.

Courts on the existing pickleball complex on the south end will remain open for players, according to the department's Facebook page .

The demolition marks the start of construction on a new 10-court pickleball complex at the park. The new complex will be lighted and feature a 10-foot-wide concrete walkway separating each set of five courts.

According to previous KOMU 8 reporting, the complex will replace two of the three existing tennis courts at the park.

Show-Me Pickleball Club will donate nets and posts for the complex. Funding for this project comes from the 2021 Park Sales Tax.
