ST. CLOUD, Minn. — A St. Cloud man was sentenced to a lifetime prison sentence seven years after he admitted to killing a woman he had met at a wedding.

Daniel Kenning was initially charged with the murder in 2018, but was found incompetent to stand trial at that time. He was not found competent to stand trial until 2024.

He was found guilty by a jury on Sept. 18.

Kenning allegedly admitted to murdering the woman because "God had told him he needed to kill someone."

According to the criminal complaint, Kenning went to the St. Cloud Police Department on the morning of Sept. 29, 2018, at about 8 a.m., saying that he had just killed someone. He then brought officers to his home, where they found a deceased woman.
