ST PAUL, Minn. — A new exhibit debuting at the Science Museum of Minnesota is quite literally getting underneath the skin.
It's called Skin: Living Armor, Evolving Identity. It features dozens of objects that showcase the adaptive properties of skin in animals, including its ability to support and regenerate keratin-based structures like armored scales, feathers and insulating fur.
The exhibit also gets deeper, sparking dialogue about skin's role in shaping human culture and identity.
"The exhibit also kind of helps you take a deeper understanding of yourself and how your own body works and how your identity is tied to maybe the way people see you," said Dr. Catherine Early, Chair of Ornithology.
