YANKTON, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - We’ve been bringing you stories from the recent Midwest Honor Flight Mission 27. Over 83 Veterans made the trip to Washington, DC, for “One Final Tour With Honor”. Korean War Veterans saw a surprise at their memorial that day.

Veterans like Yankton Native Ken Oien reflected on their time serving during what has been nicknamed “The Forgotten War”.

Oien spent most of his time with the army overseas in Germany.

To a group of visitors, these veterans met at the Korean War Memorial; this conflict and their service were anything but forgotten.

Students from South Korea had a special interaction with the men who defended their freedom.
